Our top tips for designing awesome exhibition graphics

29 March 2018

Designing an awesome exhibition graphic is all about understanding your brand, audience needs, and objectives then matching the design to help tie them together. Follow these top tips for designing awesome exhibition graphics.

Consider your location

Your location can impact the design. You will need to first consider where you are going to be using your graphics. Will it be used in multiple locations, or will it be solely used for exhibitions? Use the answer to these questions to decide what’s best, for example, in a busy exhibition hall it will be more vital to ensure text is kept to a minimum and important information is located near the top as people are less likely to linger and read your display. However, if you are designing for a shopping centre or museum, you will be able to use more text, as people are more likely to stop and read and the aim of your display will be to educate.

Ensure your have a CTA

A call-to-action helps to increase interest in your exhibition display stand and promotes positive next steps. Most people will understand the importance of adding a unique selling point to a display, but they aren’t taking it further and transforming this USP into a CTA. This could be getting people to try a free sample or leave their details to be sent a voucher. That’s where you can be one step ahead of the game. You should also consider whether your contact details are necessary on your exhibition display stand graphics. For example, if the aim of your banner stand is to encourage more people to visit your graphic and stand, then it’s unlikely that you want people to jot down your phone number or web address. You should consider whether it’s more personal to hand them a business card or flyer whilst they are visiting your pop up exhibition.

Include social media

Social media is the backbone of much of what we do in business today, so it’s important to give your potential customers a helping hand by adding the social icons for the channels that are of relevance to your display and brand. If you are easy to discover via your brand name, then you will not even need to add a name, just the social icons! Don’t forget to use images within your exhibition as pictures are more engaging than words at a first glance. It’s also important to ensure your colour scheme complements your brand and content, rather than blending it all into one.
